It has been announced today on
basicroleplaying.org and on the RQG group on Farcebook that
RuneQuest Fantasy Roleplaying (the tentative name for nuRQ) has been definitely shelved. Although I wasnʼt particularly opposed to the project, I think this is good news. RQFR and RQG were significantly different (more so than, say, CoC and Pulp CoC) and the co-existence of the two lines was a recipe for disaster, with unaware buyers bound to mix the two lines and the two sets of rules.
My two clacks:
1. If some people are really too mathematically-challenged to use Strike Ranks, just have everyone go by order of descending DEX or some other super simple method stolen from another BRP-based frp game.
2. If an introductory frp game different (but not too different) from RQG is really sorely needed, why doesnʼt Chaosium speak to Free League and do a ‘Glorantha Dragonbane’ boxed set?
